What do women REALLY want?
by Abandoned inok, i've heard it all: sincerity, honesty, security, money, love, romance, flowers, poems, promises, and more.
but, in my arguably limited experience, i've been shot down while doing all of these (at differnt times obviously).
so, what do women really want?

"What do women REALLY want?"
To know and love themselves. Everything else is gravy.

Not so my friend you do not see
My single purpose and intent-
To make you give myself to me"

Blogs
by Jeffro inhow many people around here maintain a blog?.
i've been hosting a site for about 2 years, with a 'proper' wordpress blog for about half of that time, but no one really seems to know it exists, and i only get about one hit per day (apart from a few search engine crawlers and the odd hacking attempt).
i initially set it up chiefly as an academic exercise to learn a little about php and sql servers.. unfortunately my life hasn't been incredibly remarkable (or rather, the remarkable things have not been things i've wanted the world at large to know about), so i haven't had a great deal of feedback (apart from the 607 article posted there), though i've put a few posts on my recent holiday on there.. if you want to have a look, or you're just feeling particularly bored, it's here.

Omitting "the faithful and discreet slave" doctrine from their website
by truthseeker ini took a look at jw-media.org to see if i could find any mention of the "faithful and discreet slave" or any mention that jehovah had chosen the governing body as his sole channel on earth.. strangely enough, there is no information about the "faithful and discreet slave".
i am wondering if their frequently asked questions page is none other than a "questions from readers" page, created by the writing committee.. if you examine the knowledge book and the what does the bible teach book, you will find that the doctrine of the "faithful and discreet slave" is either omitted or not introduced until near the end of the book, when a bible study is already hooked on the idea that jehovah's witnesses are the only true christians.. .
let's examine some of the information given about who jehovah's witnesses are from their website:.

When Did You Know You Could?
by tall penguin inin the preface of dawkins' latest book, "the god delusion" he opens with this: .
"as a child, my wife hated her school and wished she could leave.
years later, when she was in her twenties, she disclosed this unhappy fact to her parents, and her mother was aghast: 'but darling, why didn't you come to us and tell us?

In reading these replies it's interesting to me that you can be physically out of the org and not mentally out of it and vice versa. Leaving the org is really more of a mental choice. In some ways, I still feel like a prisoner of the org because I'm still so easily triggered by what happened within it. Reading through these responses has given me a deeper epiphany, that I can stop letting all this crap get to me whenever I want to. I guess I didn't know I could do that. I'm gonna test that hypothesis and see what happens. Probably easier said than done, but I'm gonna play with it anyhow.

In the preface of Dawkins' latest book, "The God Delusion" he opens with this:
"As a child, my wife hated her school and wished she could leave. Years later, when she was in her twenties, she disclosed this unhappy fact to her parents, and her mother was aghast: 'But darling, why didn't you come to us and tell us?' Lalla's reply is my text for today: 'But I didn't know I could.'
I didn't know I could.
I suspect - well, I am sure - that there are lots of people out there who have been brought up in some religion or other, are unhappy in it, don't believe it, or are worried about the evils that are done in its name; people who feel vague yearnings to leave their parents' religion and wish they could, but just don't realize that leaving is an option. If you are one of them, this book is for you."
I was in tears reading this. I spent my life not knowing I could leave the org. When I realized that I could, it was a huge relief. To know that I had the option of getting off the roller coaster anytime I wanted was a source of great power.
So, what about you? Do you recall that moment when you "knew you could"? Perhaps it was a mental leap first before you actually left the org. Tell us about it.
